The inaugural European Poker Tour Awards have taken place in Barcelona in Spain, and Italy’s Luca Pagano has scooped Player of the Year. The glittering awards ceremony was staged before the opening event of Season 5, and players and media partied till the early hours to kick off the new season in fine style. John Duthie, EPT supremo said: “The EPT awards, which we expect to become a regular fixture on the EPT, look back at last season’s record-breaking tour and acknowledge the achievements of the players who once again dazzled us all with their exceptional poker skills.”
The eagerly anticipated schedule for PokerStars European Poker Tour Season 5 has been released, and the tour will take in 12 stops, beginning in Barcelona in September 2008, and culminate in Monte Carlo in April 2009. CEO John Duthie commented: "The new EPT season includes all the events which have made the past four seasons such a triumph with record fields across Europe and record prize pools. We have set very high standards and aim to improve on this still further in Season 5."
